Brief History

1998 – PADet was founded.

1999 – It was registered as a local NGO.

2000 – It launched its first project in MukaTuri, Wucahle Woreda, i.e, Oromiya Region, on Women Economic Empowerment. PADet then had only 2 employees, and the fund it had secured was Birr 22,000.

2005 – PADet was operating in two regions; namely, Oromia and Amhara, in a total of 12 Woredas. Its annual budget and employees reached Birr 3.2 million and 53, respectively.

2010 – PADet made further advances and added one more region, Afar, making the number of its intervention Woredas 28. Its annual budget reached Birr 22 million and its employees 100, respectively.

2015 – PADet started consolidating its achievements in the 34 Woredas, but added new program themes. Its
budget was raised to Birr 52 million while the number of its employees remained the same, but recruited many more volunteers.

2016 – PADet’s size remained the same and it continued the consolidation process, giving more focus to its current strategic priories, with an annual budget of Birr 60 million. Currently, PADet has a total of 176 employees, of whom 18 (10 female and 8 male) are in the Head Office, Addis Ababa; and, more than 324 volunteers supporting it (in 35 Woredas including gone in Addis Ababa).

2017 – Conducted a grand promotion and resource mobilization event with stakeholders from community, government, civil society, donor and other supporters.

2017-2018 – PADet renewed its commitment to translate its many years of experience into further development initiatives by way of scaling up its ‘best practices’ and increasing the reach.

2019 – Re-registered with the newly established Federal Ethiopia Civil Society Agency with amended by law.

2019 – Started reviewing its strategic plan for 2015-2019 to inform its future direction for 2020-2014.
