Girls and Women’s Empowerment

Girls’ Empowerment
PADet addresses the needs of vulnerable girls, including out-of-school girls and school going ones who are predisposed to a range of gender based violence. Aiming at enabling them to unleash their potential and ultimately emerge as a powerful force against poverty, we carryout various activities with the participation and under the leadership of adolescent girls, and boys. As a rule of thumb:

  • We create education opportunities for out of school children, so that girls will have access to education. To this end, we establish cost-efficient Alternative Basic Education Centers (ABEC). We do this by collaborating with education offices and the community, where the former provide administrative support, and the latter avails a portion of local construction materials and also participate in the construction activities. As part of the activity, we also make arrangements with the education offices, and teachers’ training institutes so that prospective teachers recruited from the community acquire basic teaching skills.
  • We support formal schools to establish child-friendly teaching-learning environment, through forming and strengthening clubs (Girls’ Clubs and Boys’ Clubs) where both are coached to become assertive enough to tackle violence against children including physical punishment, child marriage, and sexual harassment within the school compound and beyond.
