Food Security/Livelihood

PADet’s program themes have economic empowerment activities, aiming at addressing the underlying causes of poverty. What we do include the following:

  • Organizing adolescent girls and women in Saving and Credit Associations or Women Self-Help Group, and avail loan (working capital) and provide them training in entrepreneurship, bookkeeping, and facilitate creation of market outlets/networks.
  • Organizing community members in service cooperatives, so that they pull their resources (human power, land, money, skills, etc) together and maximize their capacity to enhance food security and cope with environmental challenges.
  • Introducing new farming techniques.
  • Helping make potable water accessible to communities with a view to reducing their vulnerability to waterborne diseases, which often claim the lives of children and infants, and also deplete families’ financial resources and energy.
  • Mobilizing the community and build the capacity of local actors (through training, material, and financial support), so they address more community members.
