PADet’s firsthand experience in community development reveals that one of the factors that nurture poverty in the project areas is gender inequality. Applicable to most communities, women are excluded from major decisions pertaining to their respective community’s well-being where as they are urged to bear the burden of sustaining the society, with little or marginal recognition of their positive roles. Men decide on behalf of the entire community; yet, they often disregard the needs of women. Bearing this in mind, PADet commits itself to promoting gender equity. Through dialogues and negotiations with various stakeholders, it makes sure that women are well represented in all development forums.
