Professional Alliance for Development (PADet) is an indigenous, non-profit non-governmental humanitarian organization established in 1998. Its founders were a group of professional volunteers who had been working in the government and for other NGOs.
Since its inception, PADet has grown to serve the poorest, most vulnerable, and most marginalized segments of Ethiopian society —particularly children, adolescents, and women— through participatory community-based development programs focusing on sexual and reproductive health; HIV/AIDs prevention and care, child development and food security/livelihood promotion.
PADet has grown beyond just creating awareness to offering lasting solutions and hope to the groups with which it works: vulnerable, poorest and most disadvantaged.
PADet has experienced significant organizational growth since its founding. It has systematically strengthened its governance and internal management, external relations, and programs as measured by range of services, geographic areas served, and logistics management.
Over the past seven teen years, PADet has been supported by a core group of donor partners including Save the Children International and its families, Action Aid International, The Packard Foundation, Geneva Global, Inc., PACT Ethiopia, Plan International, The German Foundation for World Population, The MasterCard Foundation, The OAK Foundation, Hundreds of Original Projects for Employment – HOPE’87, The Nile Basin Initiative, Norwegian Church Aid, Christian Relief and Development Association, Multi trust fund ( through the World bank and British Embassy), Christian Relief and Development Association/CCRDA, Population Health & Environment in Ethiopia/PHE, and the Consortium of Reproductive Health Associations in Ethiopia, among others.
