Women’s Empowerment
PADet upholds the view that the participation of women in income generation is vital, if household poverty, which is at the root of most social problems, is to be overcome. Through PADet’s systematic support that aims at empowering women, the social and economic landscape of many communities have been changed for better. What we do is put as follows:
- Economy wise, we enable poor women to have access to financial and material resources. We do this by organizing them in Saving and Credit Association of Women Self-Help Groups, providing them training on entrepreneurship, availing loan (working capital), supporting them to establish market outlets and forging links with other members of the business community.
- We promote safe motherhood and encourage community members to play an active role towards reducing the incidence of harmful traditional practices that make women vulnerable to HIV/AIDS; wife inheritance, for instance, and other health risks factors.
- We enhance legal awareness of the community and urge the same to take legal measures against perpetuators of violence against women.
- We help women build their self-confidence and support them to increase their leadership role.
- We build the capacity of government offices through training and material and financial support.
